An erosion control additive for
hydroseeding and hydromulching Sentinel® is an erosion control additive, specifically formulated for the hydromulching and hydroseeding industry. It is an enhanced tackifier. Sentinel® works differently than other tackifiers. It is a soil amendment that increases water penetration into the soil, and stabilizes the existing soil structure on hydro-seeded sites subjected to rainfall or irrigation. Sentinel® can flocculate suspended soil particles, further reducing soil run-off. Sentinel® improves seed germination. By capturing more moisture in the soil, more water is available to the plant during the germination and plant emergence period. Sometimes, seed germination is increased to the extent that it may be necessary to use less seed as well as less water. Sentinel® can reduce contractor's costs. Fewer callbacks and reapplications save time and lower overall operating costs. Clogging can be eliminated because mulch slurries become very slippery. More mulch can be used per tank load, resulting in more area covered per tank load, without sacrificing the mulch application rate. And better germination may result in better plant emergence with less seed. Sentinel® is highly concentrated and economical to use. It is environmentally safe and biodegradable. Sentinel® has benefits on all major soil types; however, it is less effective on extremely sandy soils. On extremely sloped fields, it is beneficial to use Infiltrator in conjunction with other erosion and runoff control practices. Application Rates and Recommendations Application Rate: 3 to 20 pounds per acre. (3 to 20 Kilograms per hectare.) Mixing ratio of slurry: Use between 2 and 8 ounces per 100 gallons. (150 to 600 grams per 1000 liters.) SLOWLY add this slurry to the supply tank during the agitation process. Allow a thorough mixing for at least five minutes. CAUTION: Never mix more than 8 ounces per 100 gallons of water. (600 grams per 1000 liters.) Soil erosion is caused by flowing water. The velocity and volume of water flow determines the extent of erosion. Steep slopes will require a higher concentration of Sentinel® to provide the required protection. It must be understood that a high volume and high velocity flow of water running off of higher unprotected elevations onto areas protected with Sentinel® may not be adequately controlled or may be impossible to control. It is not possible for the manufacturer to guarantee the performance of any soil erosion product. Additional treatments may be necessary if soil disturbance occurs after heavy rainfall. |
